IIM Shillong IPM Program Launched
A New Opportunity for Aspiring Managers

Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong) yesterday officially announced the launch of Integrated Program in Management (IPM). IIM Shillong now becomes the seventh IIM to launch the sought after 5-year program. Students completing their XII standard can apply for the program.
The admission to the first batch of the IPM program at IIM Shillong is expected to be through the IPMAT Indore examination conducted by the IIM Indore. Apart from the IPMAT Indore score, IIM Shillong may also consider the marks obtained by the students in X and XII for the admission process, a spokesperson at IIM Shillong said.

Who can apply for IPM Program at IIM Shillong?
Students who have completed their XII standard are eligible to apply for the IIM Shillong IPM Program. The basic minimum criteria to apply for the program will 60% marks in XII.
Admission Criteria for IIM Shillong’s IPM Program
Admission to the IPM program at IIM Shillong will be based on the IPMAT Indore examination, conducted by IIM Indore. It is expected that X and XII scores will also be considered for admission.
Selection Process for IIM Shillong IPM Program
The admission process will be in two stages. The first stage will be the IPMAT Indore examination. The second stage comprises Written ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).
Detailed Admission Process
The admission is expected to be done in two stages with the candidate being shortlisted for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) process based on the IPMAT Indore score. The final merit list will be based on a composite score with weightages for IPMAT Indore score, 10th marks, 12th marks and the score obtained for the Personal Interview and the WAT process.
The details of the selection process will be put up on the IIM Shillong website after the 30th of April 2025.
Curriculum and Structure of the IPM Program
The program at IIM Shillong is expected to follow similar curriculum to that of the other IIMs with the first three years offering a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills:
IPM Years 1–3: Foundational courses in subjects like mathematics, statistics, programming, economics, history, sociology, accounting, and psychology etc.
IPM Years 4–5: Advanced management education following the Post Graduate Program (PGP) curriculum, with opportunities to specialize in core areas such as:
- Finance
- Marketing
- Operations
- Human Resources (HR)
- Information Management
The last two years of the program will follow the PGP curriculum, and the students will be attending classes along with the incoming batch of PGP via the CAT examination. The fourth year will focus on building a fundamental base in management and the students will have an opportunity to undergo a Summer Internship Program (SIP) before the start of the fifth year. In the fifth year the student can choose from more than 75 specialized management electives being offered by IIM Shillong to specialize in their choice of functional area.
IIM Shillong Joins the IPM Bandwagon
The IPM program was first launched by IIM Indore in 2011, followed by IIM Rohtak in 2019. Since then, IIM Ranchi, IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya has launched the IPM program. This year IIM Shillong has become the second IIM after IIM Amritsar to launch the program. Apart from the IIMs, Integrated Program in Management is also offered by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT Kakinada), which also considers the IPMAT Indore score for its admission process. IIM Shillong which was launched in 2007 is among the top IIMs in the country to now offer the program.
