With this launch, IIM Kozhikode becomes the second IIM, after IIM Sirmaur, to offer the highly sought-after 4-year program. Students who have completed their XII standard can apply.

IIM Amritsar will use the IIMK BMS Aptitude Test scores to admit students to the first batch of its IPM program. The selection process will consider both the IIMK BMS Aptitude Test score and the Personal Interview score. Students who have written the JEE Mains and hold a valid score do not need to take the aptitude test. Applicants with a valid SAT / ACT score can also use it to apply for the BMS program at IIM Kozhikode.

Detailed Admission Process

Who Can Apply to IIM K BMS Program?
To be considered for admission, applicants must have either passed the Class XII examination or completed a diploma following ten years of formal schooling. The educational qualifications must be from a stream approved by the respective boards under the Government of India. All applicants are required to present original certificates and mark sheets by August 1, 2025, to confirm their eligibility.  Admissions will be determined by a holistic review of each applicant’s academic history, entrance exam performance, and results from the personal interview.

About the Entrance Exam
The IIMK BMS Aptitude Test (IIMK BMS AT) 2025 is a compulsory entrance exam for most candidates. It is designed to measure skills in two core areas: Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability. Conducted in a computer-based, multiple-choice format, the test will be held at authorized centers across the country.

Who Doesn’t Need to Take the Exam?
Applicants who already possess valid scores from national or international standardized tests like JEE (Mains), SAT, or ACT are not required to appear for the IIMK BMS AT. These candidates will be evaluated based on the scores reported in their respective standardized tests. It’s essential that they submit official score reports when applying.

How Shortlisting for Interview Works?
From the pool of eligible applicants, IIM Kozhikode will compile a shortlist by calculating an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). This score reflects a combination of the applicant’s performance in the entrance test (or accepted equivalent), their Class XII or Diploma marks, and their Class X academic performance.

The Personal Interview Process
Shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Personal Interview (PI) round, which IIM Kozhikode will host in seven major cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Each interview will last roughly 15 minutes and be scheduled during either a morning or afternoon session.

During the interview, evaluators will assess various qualities including academic preparedness, awareness of societal issues, personality traits, communication ability, and the candidate’s suitability for the BMS program.

Final Selection Criteria
After completing the interviews, the final evaluation will involve combining the applicant’s PI performance with standardized test scores and prior academic achievements. IIM Kozhikode will create a category-wise merit list based on these final scores.

Admission offers will be made according to the merit rankings, adhering strictly to the Government of India’s reservation guidelines.

The details of the selection process are available in the IIM Kozhikode BMS website

Curriculum and Structure of the IIM Kozhikode BMS Program

The Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) at IIM Kozhikode is a comprehensive four-year, eight-semester undergraduate program designed to build a strong foundation in management and allied disciplines. While all students pursue a Major in Management, they also have the flexibility to choose a Minor from a diverse range of fields such as Economics and Public Policy, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, Finance and Big Data, Marketing, Sales, and Digital Promotion, Liberal Studies in Management. This multi-disciplinary approach allows students to tailor their education based on career interests and evolving industry demands.

Credit System & Course Load

The BMS curriculum follows a credit-based structure, where **each credit equates to one hour of classroom instruction per week** over the semester. For example, a 4-credit course requires at least four hours of classroom time weekly. Students are also expected to dedicate a minimum of two additional hours per credit each week for preparation and study outside the classroom.

Academic Calendar

Each academic year is split into two semesters, Odd (Fall) Semesters which run from September to December and the Even (Spring) Semesters which run from January to April

A short semester break follows the fall semester, and the summer break from May to August offers students an opportunity to explore internships, research projects with faculty, or enroll in short summer-term courses worth 2 credits.

Course Categories

The BMS program is built around three main types of courses:

1. Foundation Courses: Offered primarily in the first year, these courses help students build essential academic and analytical skills. Topics include:

  • Economics
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Accounting
  • English and Communication
  • Computer Science
  • Psychology and Sociology
  • Law and Public Systems

These courses lay the groundwork for advanced management studies and interdisciplinary exploration.

2. Core Courses in Management: These form the heart of the program and cover around **80 credits** (approximately 20–24 courses). Core areas include:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Marketing and Sales
  • Organizational Behaviour
  • Human Resource Management
  • Strategy and Leadership
  • Operations and Supply Chain Management

The curriculum provides more in-depth training than the typical undergraduate program and aligns with the first-year content of many MBA degrees, preparing students for entry-level business roles.

3. Elective Courses (Minor Specializations): Starting in the third year, students can specialize further through elective courses tied to their chosen Minor. Each minor must include at least 40 credits (roughly 10–12 courses). Electives are offered based on student demand and availability. Before each semester, students will receive a list of available electives and can bid for the courses they wish to take. Course offerings are subject to minimum enrollment numbers. This flexible and robust program structure ensures students graduate with a well-rounded, industry-relevant education and a unique academic profile aligned with their career aspirations.

IIM Kozhikode is the second IIM to offer a BMS program
