- All the 3 sections had a sectional time
- Sectional cut-off will be there for all the 3 sections so you will be required to clear the sectional cut-off for each section to be eligible for a call from IIM Indore
- Each question was allocated +4 marks. There was negative marking for MCQ questions while the short answer questions did not have any negative mark.
- Overall there wasn’t much change. It was a shorter version of the earlier IPMAT exam. The questions were also similar and there wasn’t much of a surprise.
The MCQ part of the Quantitative Ability section in IPMAT IIM Indore 2021 exam was in the moderate to tough spectrum. The 5 DI questions in this section were actually tough. The short answer questions in the Quantitative Ability (SA) section were moderate. The Verbal Ability section questions were easy to moderate. That’s where the students could have actually scored a lot of marks and this was the section which comprised almost 50% marks of the IPMAT 2021 paper.
The Quantitative Ability (MCQ) section had questions from percentages, time, speed & distance, ratios & proportions, along with advanced mathematics which were comparatively easier while the 5 data interpretation questions were tougher. With a decent practice, 12 to 15 questions were doable in this paper at an average of 2-3 minutes per question.
Compared to Quantitative Ability (MCQ), the Quantitative Ability (SA) questions were much easier. There were a total of 10 questions and a student who is good in maths could have done 7-8 questions in the given time of 30 min easily. Questions from Time & Work, Averages, Numbers, and Progressions, in this section were on the moderate side.
Coming to the Verbal Ability section, it was the easiest section of all. The 6 questions of reading comprehension were taken straight away from the Indian Express 2017 newspaper. There were a lot of questions which came from the vocabulary part like the text completion, direct vocabulary, and wrong usage questions. There were 3 questions from Paragraph completion and 3 from Para-Jumbles (type-in). These were really easy questions and if you are really good in English, then you could have got even 25+ questions correct.
