Integrated Program in Management
IPM | Join an IIM right after 12th
Integrated Program in Management (IPM) is a 5-year MBA Program offered at various IIMs for students who have completed their 12th grade. This program was first launched by IIM Indore in the year 2011, followed by IIM Rohtak in 2019. This year there are three more IIMs which have launched the IPM program, IIM Ranchi, IIM Bodhgaya & IIM Jammu.
The first three years of the IPM program builds a foundational knowledge in management subjects, followed by the last two years where the students attend their classes with the incoming MBA batches. The fifth year of the program offers the students a choice among variety of courses and the student can either choose to specialize in one of the management functions or pick up courses as per his/her interests across all different domains.
For admission to IIM’s IPM Program, there are multiple examinations a student can write. These exams are IPMAT IIM Indore, IPMAT IIM Rohtak and the JIPMAT. The details of the exams are given below.

Selection Process for IPM Programs
The selection process for the 5-year Integrated MBA program at the IIMs (IPM) will be determined by overall results in the Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Assessment (PA). Personal evaluation can include a personal interview (PI) or a video-based evaluation (VBA). The Personal Assessment round may also have a Written Ability Test (WAT).
Candidate Selection: Applicants who have a positive raw score and minimum marks in all three sections of the paper are considered eligible for Personal Assessment. The cutoff varies depending on the overall difficulty of the examination and the individual sections.
PA Shortlist: Using the merit list produced from the ATS ranking, a Personal Assessment Shortlist will be created from among the candidates who appeared for the examination. Candidates who have been shortlisted will now take part in a Personal Assessment. In all parameters of the PA, a consistent and minimum output is expected (decided by the admission committee).
Final Selection: Candidates who have met the minimum requirements in the previous stage will qualify for the final round.
A merit list will be produced for each category based on the CS (composite score) as shown in the table below:
- Exam Weightage
- Interview Weightage

Preparing for IPMAT & JIPMAT
IPMAT cut-off scores are quite high and only the top candidates qualify and get into the 5-year Integrated Management program at the IIMs.
A well-planned study routine and discipline will pave your path to success. Securing admission to the IPM program is difficult but definitely not impossible. With effort and focus in the right direction, you can crack it too.
Here are some expert tips to score well in these exams.
Practice
It is critical to systematically practice problem from every chapter, beginning with easy questions and progressing to questions with a medium degree of difficulty. You will also be aware of your strengths in this manner.
Focus on Fundamentals
Don’t forget about the fundamentals of math and grammar that you have learnt from 6th to 10th. Regularly review and practice as many questions as you can to ensure that you have covered all of the relevant concepts. Examine the Math syllabus of classes 11th and 12th as well.
Be Regular
Set aside some time for the preparation, say 1-2 hours every day. Concentrate on 1-2 passages in reading comprehension, practice math and logical reasoning regularly. Spend time on grammar and vocabulary.
Take Mocks
Spend some time taking mock exams. Set aside one day a week for mock exams, subject tests, and sectional tests. Mock tests will help you efficiently manage time during the exam. Also, after practicing mock tests, spend 3-4 hours analyzing each mock test. You can even retake the test without looking at the answers. Determine your strengths and weaknesses, as this will assist you in determining the types of questions you should leave or how to better solve them.
Plan in Advance
Do not put off taking mock tests until you have completed the entire syllabus. Regularly take the mock tests and sectional tests to ensure that you are on the right track.
