NMAT Cutoff 2026 for NMIMS, KJ Somaiya, TAPMI, XUB, IFMR, Great Lakes and Other B-schools
NMAT 2026 registration opened on 20 August 2026 and the testing window runs from 2 November to 20 December 2026. With more than 60,000 aspirants expected to appear, NMAT remains one of India's largest management entrance exams after CAT, and the primary gateway to the MBA programs at NMIMS Mumbai and the other NMIMS campuses.
The exam is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and is known as NMAT by GMAC. GMAC states that the exam is now accepted by 58+ leading B-schools, including XUB, TAPMI, KJ Somaiya, IFMR, SDA Bocconi and SPJIMR, along with several schools abroad. NMIMS Mumbai, the most sought-after college accepting NMAT, features among the top 20 MBA programs in the country, which keeps NMAT in high demand.
With so many colleges accepting NMAT scores, aspirants need a clear view of cutoff trends for the institutes they plan to apply to. Knowing the expected and previous years' cutoffs helps students shortlist sensibly and set realistic score targets.
The 2024 reform still governs admissions: NMIMS reduced its cutoff to 209 and applied a common cutoff across all major programs (MBA, MBA-HR, MBA Business Analytics, MBA Digital Transformation) and campuses (Mumbai, Bengaluru, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Indore). Only MBA Pharmaceutical Management retained a separate cutoff of 190. Sectional cutoffs dropped to 62. That framework held through the 2025 cycle and is expected to continue in 2026.

NMAT 2026 Exam Pattern (Official)
NMAT has three sections — Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning — each individually timed. Questions are delivered one at a time from a question pool, and you choose the order in which you attempt the sections at the start of the exam. The test is computer adaptive: the difficulty of each question is targeted at your demonstrated ability level, and your final scaled score in each section runs from 12 to 120. There is no negative marking, and you can preview an unofficial score immediately after the test, with the scorecard downloadable within 48 hours. Up to three attempts are allowed in a testing cycle (one attempt plus two retakes).
| Section | Questions | Time | Score Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language Skills (LS) | 36 | 28 minutes | 12–120 |
| Quantitative Skills (QA) | 36 | 52 minutes | 12–120 |
| Logical Reasoning (LR) | 36 | 40 minutes | 12–120 |
| Total | 108 | 120 minutes | 36–360 |
Section Topics (as listed by GMAC)
Language Skills: Reading Comprehension, Para Forming, Error Identification, Prepositions, Sentence Completion, Analogies.
Logical Reasoning: Critical Reasoning, Analytical Puzzles, Deductions, and other reasoning.
Quantitative Skills: Number Properties, Arithmetic, Algebra and Probability, Data Integration (caselets and tables), Data Integration (graphs and charts), Data Sufficiency.
NMAT Cutoff 2025
The 2025 cycle carried forward the overhaul NMIMS introduced in 2024: a single common NMAT cutoff for all major campuses and programs, with only Pharmaceutical Management at NMIMS Mumbai kept on an independent, lower cutoff. NMIMS positioned these changes as an alignment with industry expectations, weighting well-rounded managerial competence over exam scores alone. The Competency Test — added as an extra assessment layer in the post-NMAT stage alongside the Personal Interview — evaluates analytical ability, communication, managerial aptitude and overall readiness.

NMAT 2026 Sectional Cutoff
Different colleges set different NMAT cutoffs, tied to the reputation, demand and competitive positioning of each institute. Among the top B-schools accepting NMAT, XUB consistently sets the highest cutoff, followed by TAPMI and KJ Somaiya. These institutes also enforce strict sectional requirements, so candidates must show balanced performance across all three sections.
To secure an interview call from a top MBA program you must clear both the overall cutoff and every sectional cutoff — missing even one section disqualifies you regardless of total score. Below are the ranges expected for interview calls from the top 5 MBA programs accepting NMAT.
| Section | Maximum Marks | Sectional Cutoff Range (Expected) |
|---|---|---|
| Quantitative Ability (QA) | 120 | 60–70 |
| Language Skills (LS) | 120 | 60–76 |
| Logical Reasoning (LR) | 120 | 60–74 |
| Overall Marks | 360 | 209–230 |
NMAT Cutoff 2026 (Expected) for Other Colleges
Beyond the top tier, many reputable B-schools across India accept NMAT scores, each setting its own bar based on program demand, applicant volume and institutional reputation. These cutoffs sit below NMIMS, XUB, TAPMI or KJ Somaiya but still expect balanced sectional performance. Use the ranges below to build a realistic target list. Fees and placement figures are indicative and should be verified on each institute's own website.
| College | Total Fees | Avg. Placements | NMAT Cutoff 2026 (Expected) |
|---|---|---|---|
| XUB MBA HR | 20 Lakhs | 16.64 Lakhs | 228–230 |
| TAPMI Manipal | 18 Lakhs | 14.06 Lakhs | 224–226 |

| Woxsen Business School | 21 Lakhs | 9.90 Lakhs | 150 |
NMAT Score vs Percentile
Many colleges publish no fixed score cutoff and shortlist on percentiles instead. SPJIMR's GMP program is the best-known example, evaluating applicants mainly on NMAT percentile rather than absolute score. Percentiles measure your performance against the whole test-taking population, and small score movements can shift your percentile band noticeably — which is why the conversion below is worth knowing before you set a target.
| Percentile | Score |
|---|---|
| 100 Percentile | 260+ |
| 99 Percentile | 246+ |
| 98 Percentile | 236+ |
| 97 Percentile | 230+ |
| 95 Percentile | 222+ |
| 90 Percentile | 212+ |
| 85 Percentile | 200+ |
| 75 Percentile | 180+ |

NMIMS Composite Score Breakdown (Updated)
The composite score was rebuilt as part of the 2024 reforms, shifting selection toward a competency-driven model. The NMAT score now carries reduced weight, while the Competency Test, Personal Interview, academic record and work experience carry more. Clearing the cutoff gets you into the room; what happens after that decides the offer.
| Composite Score Component | Weightage |
|---|---|
| Competency Assessment Test | 50% |
| NMAT by GMAC score | 20% |
| Work Experience | 10% |
| AI-Based Personal Interview | 10% |
| Class 12 Marks | 5% |
| Bachelor's Marks | 5% |
NMAT Historical Cutoffs
The 2024 cutoff marked a break from everything NMIMS had done before. For the first time a uniform cutoff applied across all campuses and core MBA programs: an overall 209 with sectionals of 62 or higher qualified a candidate for the interview round, whichever campus they were targeting. Previously, each campus set its own bar.
The equally consequential change was cutting NMAT's weight in the final composite to 20%. Clearing the cutoff stayed essential, but the score itself stopped dominating selection — post-NMAT components took over. The pre-2024 NMIMS Mumbai cutoffs below show how far the bar has moved.
| Section | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 | 2020 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Language Skills (LS) | 76 | 78 | 76 | 76 |
| Logical Reasoning (LR) | 71 | 72 | 71 | 76 |
| Quantitative Skills (QA) | 71 | 69 | 70 | 76 |
| Overall | 234 | 232 | 232 | 235 |
Our Students Speak
I had a wonderful time at GradSquare preparing for the CAT exam and the GDPI process. As someone entirely new to all of this, I was fortunate to have mentors who guided me at every step. They helped me identify my weaknesses and find a strategy suited to my own strengths. What stood out was the approach — not long hours of classes for the sake of it, but never hesitating to sit for hours clearing doubts, which was the key to my success. The portal is easy to use and makes prep simple to assess and follow. I wholeheartedly endorse GradSquare for anyone giving their best shot at converting a top B-school. The NMAT 2026 cutoff for NMIMS is expected to stay at 209 for all major programs across the Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai and Indore campuses, with sectional cutoffs of 62 each. Only Pharmaceutical Management carries a lower cutoff of 190.
When is the NMAT 2026 exam and when does registration close?
GMAC has scheduled exam delivery from 2 November to 20 December 2026. Registration opened on 20 August 2026 and closes on 10 October 2026, with scheduling open until 22 October 2026. Retake registration and scheduling run from 3 November to 17 December 2026.
What is the NMAT 2026 registration fee?
₹3,000 plus applicable taxes for the test, and the same ₹3,000 plus taxes for each retake. Rescheduling costs ₹1,200 plus taxes. Your first five score reports are included; additional reports cost ₹400 each plus taxes.
What is the NMAT 2026 exam pattern?
108 questions in 120 minutes across three individually timed sections of 36 questions each — Language Skills (28 minutes), Quantitative Skills (52 minutes) and Logical Reasoning (40 minutes). Each section is scaled 12–120, for a total range of 36–360. You choose the section order, and there is no negative marking.
What is the NMAT 2026 sectional cutoff?
For the top programs, expect QA in the 60–70 band, LS in the 60–76 band and LR in the 60–74 band, with an overall requirement of 209–230. NMIMS applies a flat sectional cutoff of 62 across QA, LS and LR for its main programs.
What is the NMAT cutoff 2026 for the XUB MBA HR program?
Expected in the 227–230 range, with sectional expectations of roughly QA 65–70, LS 75–80 and LR 73–78. XUB HR has not gone above 230 in recent cycles.
What is the NMAT cutoff 2026 for XUB MBA Rural Management?
Expected between 190 and 200, with sectional cutoffs around 50 in each section. The Sustainability Management program sits lower, in the 160–180 band.
What is the NMAT cutoff 2026 for TAPMI and KJ Somaiya?
TAPMI Manipal is expected in the 224–226 range and KJ Somaiya Mumbai in the 223–225 range. Both also look at sectional balance, so a lopsided profile can cost you a call even with a strong total.
What is the NMAT cutoff 2026 for IFMR?
IFMR (KREA University) is expected around 220–222. It has historically been one of the more accessible calls among the top group — the 2024 cutoff was 221.
How much weightage does NMAT carry in the NMIMS selection process?
20%. The Competency Assessment Test carries 50%, work experience 10%, the AI-based personal interview 10%, and Class 12 and bachelor's marks 5% each. Clearing the cutoff is necessary but far from sufficient.
Which colleges can I apply to with an NMAT score below 200?
SPJIMR (GMP), SOIL Gurgaon and Shiv Nadar University sit around 190; Alliance University and ITM Navi Mumbai around 160; FLAME University, IBS and Woxsen around 150. XUB Sustainability Management also falls in the 160–180 band.
How much should I score in NMAT to get a 99 percentile?
Around 246 or above. A 98 percentile needs roughly 236+, a 97 percentile roughly 230+, and a 95 percentile roughly 222+.
Which NMIMS program has the lowest cutoff?
MBA Pharmaceutical Management at NMIMS Mumbai, at 190 overall with sectional cutoffs of 50 — well below the 209/62 applied to the other programs.
How many times can I take NMAT in 2026?
Up to three times in the testing cycle — one attempt plus two retakes — and you can reschedule if needed. You can preview an unofficial score immediately after the exam and download the scorecard within 48 hours.
How important is the NMAT cutoff for final admission?
It is the gate, not the decision. Missing the overall or any sectional cutoff removes you from consideration entirely, but once you're through, 80% of the NMIMS composite score comes from everything other than your NMAT score.
Reader Questions
You have a very good chance at XUB MBA HR on your overall score — the XUB cutoff has never gone above 230. The QA cutoff has varied between 65 and 67, so you are in the middle of that band. I don't see QA crossing 67, so a call looks likely.
I scored 231 with QA 71, LR 78, LS 82. What calls can I expect? Last year I scored 226 and only got IFMR, but I'm hoping to convert XUB HR this time. Do these sectionals look safe?
You should get calls across the board with that profile. Make sure you have applied to NMIMS, XUB (HR), TAPMI, KJ Somaiya, Great Lakes (if eligible) and IFMR — all are realistic. Your sectionals are comfortably clear.
I had a great experience preparing for NMAT with GradSquare. The mentors were helpful, the classes were clear, and the overall support kept me consistent. It really boosted my confidence for the exam.
Exam dates, fees and pattern are sourced from the official NMAT by GMAC website (mba.com/exams/nmat). Cutoff figures for 2026 are expectations based on previous admission cycles and are not official announcements — always confirm with each institute before applying.

Happy to share that I had a wonderful time at Gradsquare preparing for the CAT exam and GDPI process. As someone who was entirely new to this entire process, I was fortunate to have had such wonderful mentors at Gradsquare who guided me through each and every step of the way. Mentors at Gradsquare helped me identify my weaknesses and helped me find my own strategy that was best suited for my strengths. What stood out for me was Gradsquare's approach which was different from the conventional approach of other coaching centres of using long hours to conduct classes, which in my opinion really doesn't help much, however they never hesitated to take long hours to clear our doubts which according to me was the key instrument in helping me succeed. Also, the Gradsquare portal is super easy to handle and it really makes your prep easy to assess and follow. I wholeheartedly endorse Gradsquare for anyone who is willing to give your best shot at converting a top B-School.Posted on Google![]()

I joined GradSquare for both CAT and GDPI prep and I wholeheartedly recommend the same to anyone serious about MBA Entrance examinations. The faculty at GradSquare is top-notch, to say the least. The mentors are always approachable and ready to offer guidance. For CAT prep, they did their best to enable all aspirants to approach the paper methodically by conducting one-on-one mock discussions and for their GDPI prep, they left no stone unturned to ensure that the students were well prepared for their interviews at various B-schools. Additionally, during the GDPI prep, the mentors carefully assess the strengths and weaknesses of the students, tailor their approach accordingly and provide detailed feedback to make sure that the students present the best version of themselves during their interviews. I am truly thankful to GradSquare for their unwavering support and expert guidance throughout my MBA Admission journey.Posted on Google![]()

As someone who was not confident of cracking CAT and getting an admit from a top management institute, Gradsquare came as a saviour. Getting enrolled in Gradsquare was one of the best decisions I took. The Mentors at Gradsquare cleared all the concepts for all three sections of CAT and were there for solving any sorts of doubts I had. Coming to my WAT/GDPI prep, as an Engineer, I had a tough time grasping and understanding some basic accounts and economic stuffs, but the mentors at Gradsquare made all the concepts crystal clear through various live sessions and case studies. The live sessions from various industry experts and alumni from different Bschools gave us great insights from the different sectors of the industry and enhanced our general understanding and knowledge. A big thanks to Team Gradsquare and all the mentors for helping me ace my Bschool admission journey. Would definitely recommend anyone planning to kickstart their MBA Admissions journey.Posted on Google![]()
